The group's diverse instrumentation has included piano, synthesizers, guitar, saxophones, flutes, and electronic and acoustic percussion.   Birdsongs Of The Mesozoic could well be called the world's hardest rocking chamber music quartet. The band has earned international recognition for their innovative sound.

Birdsongs of the Mesozoic is a musical group founded in Boston, Massachusetts in After Roger Miller broke up the seminal post-punk group Mission of Burma due to his tinnitus, he co-formed Birdsongs of the Mesozoic to perform quieter music. Initial personnel were Roger Miller (piano), Martin Swope (guitar), Erik Lindgren (keyboards) and Rick Scott (keyboards); all personnel doubled on.
